When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Yesterday!
Yep, I went skiing for the first time ever yesterday! Here I am in my ski-bunny glory! Matthew's work had a day trip to Mt Buller, so 5:30am saw us dragging ourselves out of bed & on the way to Bayswater for the bus trip. 4 hours of brat-kicking-the-back-of-my-seat bus trip later, we were in snowy Mt Buller!
The snow season down here has been terrible, so there wasn't a whole lot of snow (most of the runs were closed), and apparently the snow wasn't great for beginners - me LOL ... but I had a great time! Fitted up at George's ski hire for my delightful hire pants (with the crotch hanging mid-thigh), my skis, poles, and the most uncomfortable boots in the world - though I hear that's a part of skiing. Then we hit the slopes!
Matthew said I did really well (yes, I fell over!), and although I panicked when I went on the "real" slopes, I really enjoyed myself. 3:30pm, and it was time to go back to George's. Took off the boots - can't feel my feet. Eventually the feeling came back - and BOY did it come back. Burning! I preferred the numbness LOL ... but my feet went back to normal after about 20 minutes.
Then it was back to the bus for another 4 hours of brat-kicking-the-back-of-my-seat fun (it's one of my pet hates - and no matter where I am, I always seem to cop someone kicking the back of my seat!). Made it home sweet home at about 8pm, which made for a long day, but a brilliant (if absolutely physically exhausting) day.
I had a few moments of pure, unadulterated bliss:
1. When I made it down my first downhill run without falling over (only my second attempt!)
2. When I got to take those ski boots off - ahh, heaven.
3. When the hot water hit my aching body in the shower - I felt like I could melt. Ahhh.
Today - I am in AGONY. I can barely move, it hurts to drive, I walk like a cowboy, and I almost cried in the toilet when my jeans fell down, because I didn't think I was going to be able to bend down & pick them back up again! I expect tomorrow will be worse again, but I'm not deterred - we'll definitely be going back next year!
