Three Bells - Week 5

Another week has passed, and our gorgeous girl is now 5 weeks old!

Charlotte

She is such a smiley girl now.  We are greeted with beautiful smiles when she wakes up in the morning ~ I have to say, it's quite a wonderful way to start the day!

These photos make her look like such a boofa, but they show off her beautiful smile!  Awww ...

We had another weigh in & check up with the MCHN again this week, and our little star is still putting on weight like a champion!  Not surprisingly, she is in the 90th percentile for height, but right in the middle for weight ~ so if she keeps going at this rate, she'll be quite the beanpole!  She's now 56cm long and weighs 4225g (or 9lb 5oz).  Her head is still the same size as last time.

She's getting so vocal now, and makes the most adorable noises.  Although they aren't so adorable when she makes them in her sleep.  All manner of squeaks, moans, groans & grunts emanate from her little mouth when she's sleeping ~ which is SO much fun for us trying to sleep in the same room as her! ;)

We went yesterday for her appointment at the physio ~ she has a positional talipes (muscular) in her right foot, which basically means it turns in.  It's usually caused when a baby's foot is wedged up under Mummy's ribcage ~ and I can certainly remember having a something wedged up under the right side of my ribcage for a while.  It was obviously Miss Charlotte's right foot!  As the foot is jammed in there, the muscles on one side of the foot end up stronger than the other side.  It's easily fixed, thankfully ~ we just have to do some massage exercises on her foot & lower leg at each nappy change.

She's been a bit of a grizzle puss most of the week, very clingy during the day.  But sleeping well at night (most of the time) ~ and even from around 9pm to 3am last night.  She might even sleep through one night soon!

Matthew

Matthew had a three day workshop last weekend for his wine degree (he's only doing one subject this semester, thank goodness, Entomology ~ bugs!), so Charlotte & I had a weekend to ourselves ~ although thankfully Daddy came home each night!

Jody

Well, not much to tell from me!  I'm getting a little more done each day.  So far, for the past 5 weeks, each day I've managed to keep Charlotte fed, changed & happy (hooray!), have a shower each morning & night (I know, bad Jody, using too much water!), have breakfast, a cup of tea in the afternoon and keep on top of the washing/putting away of Charlotte's clothes & nappies.  Not too bad, I say!  I do want to add a bit more to my daily routine ... like eating lunch, for instance.  I'm surprised how quickly the day goes, even though I don't seem to be doing anything.  I do feel guilty for not getting more housework done, but I am telling myself it's ok.  But as the days seem less ... umm ... "foggier" ... it's time to try & get a little more organised.  Wish me luck!
