Three Bells - Week 4
Miss Charlotte has changed so much this week!
Smile!
On Friday when I picked her up out of her bassinette after a nap, she smiled at me! A real, true, honest to goodness smile. Or at least, I was pretty sure it was, as it seemed so different to her windy smiles ~ it seemed very definite. Then, sure enough, three days later she gave me two big, beautiful, unmistakeable real smiles. My heart totally melted. She was sitting on her Daddy's lap in the home theatre, and I was on the other side of the room. I stood up & started talking, and she looked over at me & just beamed, a big, gummy smile. I asked her if she had just smiled at me, and she did it again! Later on that day, when Matthew was playing with her, she gave him some big smiles as well. We got some more on Wednesday night as well. Ahhhh! =)
Eyes, lungs ... and other body parts
The divine Miss C is much more "talkative" and interactive this week. She makes the funniest little squeaking noise, as well as an assortment of grunts, squeals & other noises. I've started calling her Wilbur (the pig from 'Charlotte's Web') as she likes to snort when she's feeding LOL.
She's discovered Mr Frog dangling above her when she lies on her playmat, and she is just fascinated by him. I'll jiggle him around for her to watch (which also jingles his little internal bell), and she loves it! She'll gurgle and squeal at him ... until she gets bored and starts looking elsewhere. She is in love with any kind of light ~ she just loves looking at them. She also loves faces ~ Matthew held up the B&W printed photo of her with me (that Karen took) and she squealed happily at it and smiled, and she adores looking at faces on the computer screen. Matthew will slowly rotate the chair around, and her head stays put, looking at the computer monitor.
She has also most definitely found her lungs this week. She can really let rip when she wants to! She's also developed a habit of grunting in her sleep ... which is a little distracting for her roomies (ie. poor Mummy & Daddy) who are also trying to sleep!
She has also developed a nasty habit of farting on my hand when I'm putting powder on her bottom. She's no "silent but deadly" girl either, and it gives me one hell of a fright every time she does it! My hand flies away from her bottom ~ I have no doubt that one day soon it's going to be more than just wind! I am not looking forward to that day.
Growing, growing, growing
Our little girl is growing! (Der, I know, it happens!) She's already busted out of the 0000 Wondersuits & other brands of growsuits, but is still in 0000 two piece outfits. I have a sneaking suspicion that she will take after her Daddy in the height stakes. It was so hard not to buy cute little suits when I was pregnant, but I can already see that there will be some that she won't get to wear (short sleeved ones). What was I thinking?
She also starting to get a double chin ~ little piggy!
Visitors
Charlotte's Uncle Jason & Aunty Kim came to visit their new niecethis week! She loved them both (of course!) and we all went to visit Nathan, Fee & the kids on Saturday. Charlotte was very well behaved and slept almost the whole time in her pram ~ when she wasn't having a feed, or when Fee wasn't getting her cuddle fix!
Mummy
I'm slowly starting to get myself sorted! Even though Charlotte is a good baby most of the time, I've really just been watching the days go by these past four weeks without achieving much of anything, really. My first priority has been getting Charlotte through each day happy (doing whatever it takes), and my second priority has been getting me through each day happy (again, doing whatever it takes). Happy Mummy, happy baby! There have been no other priorities ~ everyone & everything else have to take a back seat for now. But really, the first four weeks have been just wonderful. Sure, we have had a bad night here or there, but it's a baby's job to give her parents a tough time every now & then. I have spent literally hours just holding & gazing at our precious girl. We will never, ever get this time over again, and we have waited so very long to get it. I couldn't care less if the floors go un-vacuumed or if I get nothing else done in a day.
Daddy
Well, this was supposed to be Daddy's first full week back at work, but he ended up at home with Miss Charlotte & I on Monday & Tuesday. We had a couple of rough nights sleep wise, and I think he felt fairly under the weather (as did I!).

Awwww our little babes are growing up. I just love how they intently gaze at you across the room as they know that Mummy equals more food!
